Eine auf resistenter Stärke basierende Ernährungsweise fördert eine günstige Zusammensetzung des Darmmikrobioms bei Fettleibigen. Dies führt zu einer Gewichtsreduzierung sowie positiven gesundheitlichen Effekten, darunter eine verbesserte Insulinsensitivität. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt ein internationales Forschungsteam unter der Leitung von Professor Weiping Jia von der Shanghai Jiao Tong Universität, Professor Aimin Xu von der Universität Hong Kong und Professor Gianni Panagiotou von der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. Die Studie ist im Fachjournal „Nature Metabolism“ erschienen.
